which was unlikely, but hey, so was being friends with a giant turtle

You open your window and are immediately greeted with a shiny (not-so-brand new) comic/poster/figurine of the thing you talked about nonstop for weeks. maybe months. actually now that you think about it it mightve been year—

"Hey."

"Wh-"

"No way. NO WAY." You take it out of his hands (gently) and look at it in awe, before looking up at him with a dazzled expression

There was so much stuff and I’m not sure how much I have shared/a lot is jumbled now bc it was a long day, drinking, and a loud bar, lol, but a few things:

Charlie was bragging to the guys next to us at the bar that Sunny is the wordiest show on television :,)

A woman demanded Charlie make her a cocktail, she returned it and made him fix it, he did, and then he said, “they don’t even let me bartend on the fictional show!” Which killed me.

He reiterated to us that they wanted to go with ‘my idea’ (😭) of Mac and Dennis still having inflatable furniture

This convo is kinda fuzzy but I remember he said they write episodes with the intent of surprising the audience, and if they get into the writers room and they find they’re just repeating something or not saying anything new, they either won’t move forward or they’ll go look for a way to catch the audience off guard (S16 has A LOT of this, which is I think what he was talking about)

My friend told him we miss when they used to do legit promotional stuff and photos, and he said he doesn’t really see (not involved in) what they do with that and merch nowadays

Again, he took so much time to talk to us and really truly just talked to us like we were kind of on the same level. I can’t stop thinking about how little opportunity he probably gets to do that with Sunny outside of the creative team. And it seems like he and Glenn did talk a lot/their minds were really on Season 17 this past weekend :)

(Also, I overheard a guy ask Glenn about S17 ‘this year’ and he told him due to the Writers Strikes pushing their schedules back, they wouldn’t be getting out a new season until next year. We knew this based on other things being said, but wanted to reiterate!)

It’s very cool I’ve met them all now and what’s like... Idk more insane?.. is that I appreciate them all even more now. They’re all just very real people, that are creating something they love and care about, and are genuinely excited and happy to get to talk about it whenever they can. design notes and lil musings under the cut!

Ash takes a lot from Pokespe in terms of his proportions (at least how the early chapters look in my head) and some cues from the newer movie designs bc i LOVE those, especially the one from Power of Us. So ya I also wanted to give him a big poofy jacket bc of i remember seeing an interpretation of Red's original sprite as a big jacket as well and i think it suits Ash a lot. The style was kinda early One Piece inspired at first, so there's just a big of Luffy in Ash's design, but I think it ended up more Digimon Adventure in the end lmaoo. The nose bandaid's to just elevate that rookie protagonist feel a lil bit + I spent way too long figuring out a new hat symbol lmaoo. He's also 11 in this world to match Red's age in RBY.

Pikachu I just wanted to draw him like Red's Pikachu in Special and give him the lighter coloured tummy from early artwork.

Misty's the biggest departure obvs but I knew I wanted to give her a crop hoodie and take inspo from Kiana Khansmith's Misty and give her the wetsuit as an undersuit. Then the chunky shoes were carried over from Ash with big scrumpled socks bc I thought it made her look a lil more unkempt. The whole goal was the make her more scrappy looking and focus in on the whole "Tomyboyish Mermaid" thing from the games. Also combined her RBY hair with her GSC do by making it a half-up ponytail that I think is very cute. OH and her shoes are Cerulean Gym branded, bc I imagine in this world there's merch for each Gym that the leader wear, so the wet suit and hoodie would be branded too. The hoodie's just cropped above the logo and the wet suit's logo's covered by clothes. She's about 12, so a lil older than Ash and does not let him forget it.

For Psyduck, I wanted to make him a lil fluffier and ugly-duckling + incorporate the three lil sprout hairs he's got a lil more to suit the style. He also has a neck now, you just can't see it super well here. He's just a fluffy lil duck who hurt a lot. Poor lil guy :((

Brock was pretty straight forward, I kinda wanted to reference his Sygna Suit from Masters with pants and a tank top, but made the pants into cargo pants that can be unzipped into shorts (he's thinks its the coolest thing in the world. He wears hiking boots to go over rougher terrain as a Rock-type Leader and hunt for fossils bc I like that aspect of his game characterization so I carried it over here, and he wears an armband with Pewter Gym branding. His tiny lil facial hairs are all he can grow at the moment bc he's still like 15 as usual, but he thinks it makes him look ~Older, Maturer & More Sophisticated~ so refuses to shave it.

I wanted to incorporate a lil more Geode Dude into Geodude so I changed his colours a bit and added parts where the outer layers of the rock have kinda chipped away in battles to reveal the crystal underneath + added the eyebrows from Alolan Geodude. I imagine it's like, the more outer layer gets chipped away from a Geodude, the closer they get to evolution. I do not at all know what this world's Graveller or Golem would look like but I think I'd canonise the theory of Machoke and Graveller taking aspects of the other when traded and make them kinda like Karrablast and Shelmet in a way.

Broad plot strokes are just these guys would exist in a version of the indigo league w an expanded kanto dex to include all related mons + variants, so stuff like Electivire and Annihilape and Alolan Exeggcutor would exist in there without much fanfare of ~Woahhhh Newly Discovered Pokemon~. Regional variants would be found on the Sevii Islands. Maybe there'd be small type changes too idk. Like pure Rock Geodude that gain Ground on evolution bc Gravel-ler. idk who knows I'm just spitballin. Essentially just a lil more closely following the Game's story, I guess. Less wacky loose adaptation stuff from Indigo League. Not bc I don't like that stuff, just bc it's not what I'd do.

I figure like, there'd be an interlude short arc that takes place in the Sevii Islands just after the Vermillion Gym where Ash would catch a Galarian Farfetch'd and all forms of Paldean Tauros instead of like, 100 Kantonian Tauros, and be introduced to Legendary Pokemon through a quest to track down the Galarian Legendary birds (then find out others can be found back in Kanto). Naturally he'd use the PC system (maybe adapted as some kind of daycare or something, or maybe just a teleporter to Oak's lab like the main anime) and have a couple more than 6 team members to rotate out as needed. Also. Mega Evolution would be a factor bc I think it'd be cool, so Ash gets to Mega Evolve Charizard into Mega Charizard Y.

OH also just for funsies, I'd split the starters across the trio, so Ash gets Charmander, Misty gets Squirtle and Brock gets Bulbasaur.

Basically Ash would end up with more or less the same team from the original series, but with added Annihilape, Sirfetch'd, Paldean Tauros and Mega Charizard Y. I also think I'd add Dragonite from Journeys and make his Gengar the Haunter he befriended that would follow him in secret after helping him beat Sabrina and evolve in the Cinnabar Mansion + officially join his team there.

Squirtle would evolve into Wartortle with Misty and Bulbasaur would stay in the same stage with Brock like Ash's.

I'll come up with and probably draw everyone's main teams at some point later but. ya. that's my piece!

i just wanna rant about the smp rq

i saw on a post by @give-grian-rights about their feelings for the dsmp video Tommy made, so I was kinda inspired to make this-

Story Time~ 💫

i joined the fandom after it ended. i know, i know, sorry guys, but it's true. I hated the dsmp. I thought it was dumb. I thought it was just another cringey thing online.

then again, I wasn't online that much in COVID. I have strict parents, so I basically spent all my time watching Ihascupquake in secret (yeah that's kinda goofy to look back on lmfao), but that was it. I didn't care, or know about the dsmp.

but then, in 2021-22, my best friend at the time, they loved it. and tried getting me into it. they would constantly text me when someone was streaming and how excited they were.

they would come to school with dsmp merch, and one day they even asked me to draw cc!ranboo. I was happy for them and I tried liking it, but it wasn't the same. I helped comfort them the day techno died (o7), I listened to them ramble about Karl's stream the night before, but I didn't get into it.

In 2023, after it ended, they began slowly drifting away from the fandom, and we slowly drifted away as friends. I joined a new friend group with my boyfriend at the time, and they started talking to some people the year above us.

we aren't friends anymore, but,

in 2023, that Halloween, I went trick or treating, and saw their older friends cosplaying as Techno, Sapnap(?), and Phil(?) (I think, all I know is that Techno was there).

I said their cosplays were great, cause I knew who they were.

which isn't really a lot to care about, but it was a little trailer for what was to come.

then a bunch of shit went down, and I broke up with my boyfriend and wasn't truly friends with anyone.

until, one night, I was watching YouTube on Spotify one night (strict parents 🔥), and there was no more Ryan Trahan to watch.

so, i clicked on a MrBeast video.

"$1 vs $100,000,000 House!"

and I found Karl.

so I continued watching MrBeast, before deciding to search up who Karl on Spotify to see what other videos he did.

and what I found?

his symbol. the little swirly thing.

and my life literally flashed before my eyes.

I remembered the symbol from my old friends sweater.

and I panicked. why? Idk, I overreacted.

I tried fighting the urge to get into the DSMP, but, I failed.

and I watched Quackity's video called:

"I Read The Worst Fanfictions With GeorgeNotFound"

I didn't know about the george drama at the time but,,

I just continued watching.

and I thank the dream smp.

after I got into the actual lore and stuff (thanks EvanMCGaming) I realized that it kinda saved me?

I know so many other people have had similar experiences with being saved by this wonderful creation.

but I have 1 regret

I regret I didn't get into it sooner. being able to watch a DSMP stream, or to talk to the fandom in real life.

looking back on my old friend,

So both Eve and Comic Gene posted new banners that will be be put on some train stations to promote the InT light novel as well as the upcoming InT manga and the releases of the knk fourth volume. Now nothing wrong with that I think it’s kinda cool he has the opportunity to promote his stories! The thing with these banners is…well..

And like I understand Tobi is the most recognizable one and the one that is marketable but like maybe it’s just me but knk is not his story????? The knk banner even says something like “another story of Tobi Otogiri” (thanks to one of my absolutes besties for translating it ❤️) and ugh that’s not his story! It’s Rei’s! It’s Rei’s story why are they making it seem like it’s Tobi’s?????

Idk why this makes me mad it’s like???? Tobi has a light novel, a manga, two MVs, merch…and what does Rei have? A song maybe but that thing isn’t even related to the manga at all so nothing! His story was morphed into something that doesn’t belong to him anymore! And the worst part? Tobi doesn’t even feel like the protagonist of knk! True he does stuff and important stuff too don’t misunderstand but he feels like a support character! Which he is! Aaahhhhhhh

This feels like Soul Eater where the character LITERALLY called Soul Eater is not even the protagonist! But even so in that story you could tell from the beginning that was the intention!

Anyway seeing how things are going now this is my prediction of what will happen next: Rei doesn’t survive this shit, every original character made for this manga dies, only Tobi remains bc ofc he will, he will yeet himself into the underground to meet Ryuuko and knk will be rebranded as fight song

Like y’all already know I’m not really a fan of this manga I don’t like it that much tbh but I just find it frustrating that everything is Tobi now to the point where the manga that is NOT about him is promoted as another thing about him

I gave myself some rules for this AU as to not mess with the story too much- just to kinda Un-Ick the characters a bit. Basically they keep a good amount of their traits just making them more I guess.. 3d? Idk I tried my best.

Design Notes

-Did research on Junior Highschool attire for Japan, The dress she wears normally is actually meant for Elementary. So I switched it out, I decided to steal the neck shoulder thing from her Rebuilt Design, it's kinda like some weird amalgamation of the normal Sailor suit thing.

-Since she has gone home already, you would think she would have gotten a jacket or something to bring the umbrella right? Decided that the Jacket was a gift from Satoshi, it's Merch from "Bad Evil Bunny" and has a Decal on the back.

-They rabbit on her headband is also a merch piece from "Bad Evil Bunny". Satsuki has a matching Patch that's on her uniform skirt!

Personality Notes

-Yuka Though being 14 has a more childish air to her. She often takes a liking to things that are geared towards younger children. Stuffed animals, toys, cartoons/anime. Often waking up early in the morning on weekends to catch an episode of pokemon or Tokyo mew mew while eating breakfast.

-She takes a liking to Stationary, More cutesy items like Pusheen and pokemon pens, pencils, notebooks, sticky notes, and pencases.

-She is introverted like straight up "Fuck new people", For like the first semester of Middle school people thought she was Mute because she never talked to anyone, that was till Her and Satsuki met and bonded over a shared interest of "Bad Evil Bunny". If you where to ask anyone else, they would say Yuka was an absolute Hermit but Satsuki would say otherwise. She'd say she would be the most energetic person ever.

-She has an horrible fear of Larger dogs, she can deal with smaller breeds such as the Shiba Inu but anything bigger and she'll be avoiding it like the plague.

-She really likes oversized and baggy clothing, her uniform is a bit larger so it can hang over her hands. Has a tendency to steal Satoshi's hoodie's or jackets sometimes because of that.

-She is the type of student that is always either sleeping, doodling, or daydreaming during class and somehow still has straight As

Relationship notes

Satoshi: Older brother! And older brother only- she loves him a lot but often gets annoyed when he forgets things and she has to bring it to him. She often refers to him as Toshi or Shi-Shi when they are at home.

Naomi: Sees her as an Older sister since she's been around since Yuka was born. Much like Satoshi, Naomi has a nickname as well. Usually it's Mimi. Yuka may or may not use Naomi as a way to get sweets every now and again whenever she can't get Satoshi to get her any.

Satsuki: BFF in and out of school, often drags Satsuki along to hang out with her and Satoshi's Freinds. She questions where the fuck she keeps her infinite supply of Potato chips.

Seiko: Finds her weird with some of the stuff she dose to Naomi and Satoshi, but when it's just Yuka and her they have a pretty nice time since Sekio's Mother hen instincts kick in.

Kishinuma: They bicker alot- like their love language towards each other is just pure aggression, they throw snide remarks at each other 24/7. But when it comes down to it Kishinuma would put his life on the line for Yuka

Mayu: Became real good Freinds after learning of their shared love of cutesy things, They trade Pokemon cards togeather and have so cosplayed togeather

Morishige: He creeps her out, more so because of his blank stare and indifferent personality to anyone that isn't Mayu.

Ayumi: Finds her kinda scary, she's sat in on some of her scary stories and they are usually too much for her. She dose like her candles though.

Ms. Yui: has only really met her once or twice so there is no real connection until the prank they played on Satoshi n Co at the begining of corpse party

I am so tired of Ahsoka!

She wasn't needed and now she is literally everywhere. I go on on any social media and serach for Prequel Trilogy stuff and I can't go 1 minute without seeing something about her, when she wasn't even in the films. I honestly am so mad that I wasn't part of the fandom before Ahsoka was created because she kinda becomes "the most important person for Anakin (fuck you Obi-Wan and Padme)".

It's a bit sad since she could have been a cool character. Just make her master someone else and don't make her the most special and powerful Jedi. And if they wanted to make her a padawan of a "special" master than maybe introduce a new Jedi who idk maybe left the Jedi Order long ago and now they return because of the Clone Wars. This would mean that: a) Ahsoka still has a "special" master b) because she is trained by a master who only recently returned to the order she has training different than any other padawan c)due to her master she has controversial opinions on some Jedi customs. This could be a good point of conflict for her character (do I listen to my master or the Order) and also doesn't make unnecessary changes in the story of film characters (Anakin, Padme, Obi-Wan and others).

Honestly, I think that when you do a serial for a beloved film you should ensure that the characters you fit with what the films tell us. The Jedi Council didn't want to make Anakin a master, so why would they give him a padawan. As ignorant as they could sometimes be, I think that connecting "Anakin is not mature enough to be master" with "Anakin is not mature enough to have a padawan". It's really something I think they would notice.

She is COMPLETELY unnecessary to Anakin's story and always was. Every story beat she supposedly fulfills is already fulfilled by another character. I kinda wonder if it was an attempt at whitewashing Anakin's character (Lucas was involved in TCW and apparently wanting Anakin to be more appealing from what I heard, and this was back when the prequels and Hayden were NOT as loved as they were now because my generation wasn't as huge a fandom voice as the old OT-loving guard) and making him more appealing but no. Anakin is a human garbage can and that's what makes him such a compelling and interesting character!!!

I honestly would probably be a huge Ahsoka stan if TCW was envisioned as its own thing and focused on her as a character on her own instead of making her Anakin's Most Specialest Beloved Padawan Who Is Best At Everything (She Can Even Fight Grievous omg!!!). Back then we were so starved for female characters, we had Leia and some Padme mainstream but that was it (you only knew about Mara Jade in Legends and she wasn't in the mainstream merch or anything from what I recall), and much as I love a good dies-of-sadness joke, Padme is often simplified to that and shoved aside even though she's a really cool and complicated character in her own right. I will give Ahsoka credit for blazing the way for female characters to be more included in Star Wars, but it falls flat when she's just propped up as Coolest Wisest Bestest Jedi-but-not-a-Jedi-actually-she's-better-than-the-Order Girlboss. Now we're back to Only One Female Character Above All Others. (Rey and Rose were ruined with bad writing, Hera and Sabine are wonderful but definitely not mainstream (and probably being butchered in the show), Gina Carano ruined our chances of any more Cara content, Peli was just a cameo last season, and Bo-Karen also got the Always Right Beloved TCW Girlboss Treatment.)

Imo the Council was pretty much always on the money with Anakin (at least with what they knew of him - they didn't know of the Tusken murder spree for example) and there's no way Anakin was ever ready for a Padawan or that anyone in their right mind would give him one. In MY episode III fanfiction when Favored Main Character Got A Padawan, Obi-Wan got the Padawan because he had more experience teaching, even at 12 I knew Anakin had no business teaching anyone. Also, it was NEVER previously canon that Padawans were assigned. Masters chose them as in the Jedi Apprentice series. I will NEVER let that go. Ahsoka being assigned to Anakin was so contrived.

When I work with stuff in a fandom, I like to think EVERYTHING exists in their universe too. Take Digimon as example:

The famous sequence from the beginning. Digimon Adventure, Digimon Adventure 02, Digimon Tamers. The first two are direct sequels, with the second working around the 2 youngest kids from the first but now more grown up and with a new group of friends, while the older ones from first are still around as well. The third is a different universe, where the kids play Digimon Trading Card Games and have Adv and Adv02 as an anime to promote the TCG (just like us in our real world). Waaaaaaaay up ahead in yet ANOTHER different universe, all "heroes" from other verses are summoned up to fight a bigger baddie, and the kid from Tamers is like "Oh I know these two, they're fictional characters in my world (about the main protags from Adv and Adv02)". Digiception!

In Paw Patrol, thanks to the movies, we know THERE IS Paw Patrol merchandise being sold around and pretty much funding everything the Paw Patrol owns, from lands, to buildings, vehicles, equipment, technologies, everything is funded by SELLING LICENSED PAW PATROL MERCHANDISE. I bet they have the animated cartoon too. Can you imagine Ryder writing down episode ideas for the writers to work on scripts and have the episodes animated and airing in a constant for several years?? The ideas coming straight from Ryder??? All that merch wouldn't sell itself just by their fame as rescuers alone - although I gotta agree I'd buy dog and horse stuff from my local cops/firemen if they'd invest in showing off their animals at all.

ANYWAY

For me, everything exists in the Paw Patrol universe just the same. And yes I think they'd have watched BH6. Ryder would show up at anime cons and events cosplaying as Hiro. AND YES MARSHALL WOULD HAVE A BAYMAX PLUSH. LET'S GIVE HIM ONE. Whenever I get to open that askbox again, I mean, lol

i mean olivia was breaking records taylor had taken years of her career to set with her DEBUT album and taylor was scared bc she could get better than her
